this is the third example of a kore from the athens acropolis. done during the archaic period while greek art was still developing in terms of technique and realism, these statues with their flat surfaces, ridge stance, elongated eyes, patterned hair and exaggerated smile seem unnatural. however, less than one hundred years later the sculpted female figures would exhibit a softened posture and realistic rendering of form and features.
